I did not have a good experience with this Shell Service Center. I brought my car in to get checked out as there was shaking when I turned left/right and accelerated. There was no shaking OTHERWISE. I was quoted around $900 to have my 2 front TURNING axels fixed. I am a student and this was a large amount of money. Therefore, I decided to not have them fix it and get a second opinion. When I went to pick up my car I was not able to leave Shirlington Circle - it wasn't even 0.5 miles before my car was disabled on the bridge overlooking 395, splitting off to 395 N and Quaker Ln. My car was not drivable at this point. It was shaking with/without acceleration and with/without turning - which was not happening before. It seemed like metal was scrapping the concrete as I drove and my engine was crumbling into small metal pieces. I am not sure what they did while they looked into my car, but they made it WORSE. I had my car towed to a DIFFERENT Shell Service Center. I was told from this second opinion that only ONE turning axel needed repairing, the other was fine. That my driveshaft was damaged and needed replacing. They are repairing my one axel, my driveshaft, servicing my car and doing oil/lube for a total of $700. My rating is not even about the inaccurate information or high quote - the fact they allowed me to drive my car out of their lot was WRONG. It was not in a driving condition after they checked it out. They allowed me to put MY SAFETY at risk. I talked to Ron the next day after getting it towed and he said "you didn't want it fixed". I told him in the future, if a car is unsafe to be driven out the lot, you NEED to inform the customer. I put myself in a very dangerous situation by driving it. After evaluating my car, the only two opinions he should've allowed me was 1) get the car fixed with them or 2) get it towed out of the lot because it is unsafe to drive. I really hope all the employees at this location take my experience seriously. Being stopped on that bridge with cars/buses driving 50-60 MPH to merge on/off exits, was very dangerous. TELL CUSTOMERS IF THEIR CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE!
